So, the long range planning survey is what Bob Werther (current AGI President) told me that Bill Devanney (former ACSA President) was utilizing as the reason behind the pickleball request for 100K reserve funds. Let's take a look at that survey... I dove back into my emails and photos from the Spring of 2023 and here is what I found.

  • The survey pre-dated the Pickleball Courts that were added at the South Beach Community Center just 1.5 miles up the road by 10 months.
  • Only 199 responded / a mere 29% of the community
  • Of those that responded the MAJORITY said NO to Pickleball. 52% said no.
  • Of those that responded for the RANKING of projects, the POOL tied Pickleball. It was even on average - but in a tie-breaker? A majority ranked the Pool #1 compared to Pickleball.

So how did we get here? Please use this PDF to discuss this with your communities, neighbors and board members.

We must urge our board members to act in our interests.

If a survey of 96 PEOPLE (NOT the majority) can get this onto the reserve then the 94 people that have currently signed the petition should be able to get it OFF. We need more!

Please urge your board members -

  1. Do NOT approve the draft budget with 100K in reserve for Pickleball.
  2. Get a professional impact assessment done, by a company that has no attachment to the outcome, such as Spendiarian & Willis Acoustics & Noise Control instead.

I don't want to think this way, but as it stands, if 100K is in the reserve for Pickleball, (and Bob Werther told me this was not enough to do the project) than a <75K assessment could be charged to our community members WITHOUT A VOTE to make up whatever shortfall and make it reality. I can think of no other reason why a 'less than' reserve would be put in place in 2025 but to have a foothold from which to launch the project.

The fact that a BRAND NEW AMENITY wasn't even listed on the board meeting's agenda but was couched in a Draft Budget is concerning.

The more I research this, the more desperate I feel that we cannot proceed at current course and speed. And perhaps naively I hope that our voices will be heard.

Keep circulating this. AGAIN - download this PDF.
