The Issue

I used to work at Six Flags for multiple years. I started as a team member, became a lead, and finished as a ride supervisor, so I know how these rides operate and what those panel checks and physical safety checks mean. When I watched what happened on Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia, my heart broke for the man who lost his life, and I keep coming back to one thing: a green light does not always mean a rider is truly secure in the way they need to be.

On a ride like Goliath, the operator cannot send the train unless the seats show secure. But anyone who has actually worked rides knows there is still a human judgment call before that train leaves the station. If staff are pushing and pushing to get a restraint down, if someone needs extra maneuvering just to make the seat work, or if the restraint is landing too low on the thighs instead of securing the rider where it should, that is a warning sign. When that happens, we should not be trying to make it work. We should be stopping the ride cycle for that guest and keeping them safe.

That is why I am calling on Six Flags Over Georgia to adopt and strictly enforce a no-exceptions restraint fit policy for Goliath and similar rides. If a restraint cannot close in the proper position without excessive pushing or manual force, the rider should not be allowed to board. Staff should be required to prioritize proper fit over speed, avoid pressure to clear trains quickly, and back up team members who make the safe call.

This is not about blaming one worker. It is about setting a standard that makes safety the only priority when there is any doubt. A tragedy like this should force real change, not just conversation. Please sign this petition and help demand safer restraint-fit rules at Six Flags Over Georgia.
