Require panic buttons at all CVS registers

The Issue

Edeedson Cine Jr., a beloved member of our community and a dedicated employee, was tragically taken from us far too soon. Eddy was more than just a colleague; he was a friend, a mentor, and an example of selfless dedication. His untimely departure has not only left a void in the hearts of those who knew him but also highlighted the need for increased safety measures in places of work that serve the community.

I, like Eddy, work at CVS. I had the honor of working alongside him for a shift or two, and his story has profoundly touched my heart. The absence of someone who was always willing to help, who was so full of life and love for those around him, serves as a somber reminder that our safety should never be taken for granted.

Every CVS employee deserves to feel secure while performing their duties. It is unacceptable that we live in constant vigilance, wary of every movement around us. Eddy’s passing is a wake-up call that emphasizes the urgent need for change to ensure that no other family—a CVS family—experiences such a heartbreaking loss again.

What we propose, in honor of Eddy's memory and for the safety of all CVS employees, is the installation of panic buttons under every register in every CVS store nationwide. This measure could potentially prevent future tragedies by allowing employees to discreetly call for assistance in dangerous situations.

The technology exists and is readily available; thus, implementing it in a chain as widespread as CVS can set a precedent for standard safety protocols in retail environments. With this system in place, employees can focus on their jobs and serve the community without fear.

Please join us in calling for CVS Health Corporation to prioritize the safety of its employees by installing panic buttons in all of their stores. Let us not wait for another tragedy to remind us of what is most important—the lives and safety of those who are at the frontline, serving and protecting the community day in and day out.

Sign the petition to honor Eddy and to protect the future of countless others.
