I am a proud South African citizen, deeply invested in our culture. Today, I am addressing a matter close to my heart - the representation of our women in the Ms. South Africa pageant. It is paramount that the young woman who wears the symbolic crown carries the heritage, history and heart of South Africa. We respect and value international contributions and diversity, we feel that the essence of the Ms. South Africa title should be reserved for someone with roots and deep connections in our beloved country. 

Statistics show that the number of non-South African women reaching the competition's finals is increasing [source: South African Pageant Association]. We do not wish to exclude or discriminate, but rather to maintain the integrity of a title that is meant to reflect the soul of South Africa.

Let us come together to ensure the crown stays in our own backyard. Please sign this petition to call on the organizers of the Ms. South Africa pageant to allow only South African women to represent our country in the competition. Because the soul of South Africa deserves a true South African voice.
