I spent hours on the phone yesterday trying to get a free attorney. As I stated in my last update, I have now been told by my NJ child support caseworker- CristinaSuarez, the NY Judge- Judge Campbell, and the NY Magistrate- Magistrate Afriyie, that if I want all of my evidence READ, and if I want to be HEARD in court, and if I'm requesting that my ex-husband be ordered to PAY IN FULL, IN A LUMP SUM, RIGHT AWAY... THAT I WILL NEED AN ATTORNEY. 

THIS IS COMPLETE INSANITY. 

So, the NY Judge and the NY Magistrate advised that I get a NY attorney. My NJ Child Support caseworker advised that I get a NJ attorney. I called NJ first. No phone call is quick & easy. Trying to explain this nightmare as quick as I can... NJ Legal Services said that a NJ attorney can't represent me in Orange County, NY. I was then given a number to call in NY. I call & after explaining everything again, I'm told that they don't cover Orange County. She then gives me another number to call. I spoke with a sweet girl for HOURS who thinks that they can hopefully help me- the other problem is that the next court appearance is on 10/23. Fingers crossed that they can help. Ofcourse it was Friday, so they're calling me back on Monday morning. I did the whole intake process. I also just want to say, for anyone saying, 'Just give up on the 5K portion of child support owed to you'... Ya know, when you're homeless, have ZERO dollars, temporarily staying with a friend who is THREE HOURS AWAY FROM 'HOME' & MY BOY & WHERE I WANT TO LIVE AND WORK... $5,000.00 IS ALOT OF MONEY TO HAVE IN HAND, WHILE HAVING SOMEWHERE TO SLEEP. I HAVE TOTALLY OUT-STAYED MY STAY AT THIS POINT. THANK GOD FOR THIS FRIEND!!!! But, I WANT TO GO HOME!!!!! YES, I WANT TO WORK!! But, ya know what else?? THAT 5K CAN GO TOWARDS 1ST MONTH'S RENT, SECURITY & OTHER THINGS NEEDED. AND, IF I DON'T FINISH UP THIS BATTLE NOW, WHILE I CAN (AS AWFUL AS IT IS), THEN IT'S OVER. I'LL NEVER GET IT. AND I NEED IT!!!! AND I'M OWED IT!!!! AND MY HORRIBLE EX-HUSBAND & HIS AWFUL FAMILY & FIANCE & WHAT THEY'VE PUT ME THROUGH... I DESERVE JUSTICE. THE MOUNDS OF EVIDENCE & STORIES ON THIS MAN, AND HOW THE SYSTEM HAS LET US DOWN & IS CORRUPT AND IS A JOKE. I MIGHT AS WELL KEEP FIGHTING!! ATLEAST I FINALLY GOT HIM LOCKED UP!!! FINALLY!!!!
