Apologies for the delay, but here’s an update!

For the past two weeks, we’ve been ensuring our voices are heard and prioritizing client care. This week, I’ve been busy covering groups and meeting clients to help them navigate their rights to continuity of care.

The Latest Update:
The Drug Medi-Cal Director of KernBHRS called several clients, informing them their care would end. One client was told there was no need for continued treatment unless they chose one of their facilities. The hypocrisy is exhausting! I keep reminding clients this is how some insurances act.

Independence Day:
The Fourth of July can trigger relapse due to celebrations involving alcohol and drugs. We hosted a sober BBQ and movie day for those who would otherwise be alone or face temptations. The event was a success, and our first group session on the fifth was spent processing the day. Many felt a sense of grief, marking their first sober Fourth of July in years.

A Community of Support:
I am immensely proud of our clients. Those who relapsed showed up, knowing they wouldn’t be judged, and were commended for their strength in showing up. Our therapeutic community approach at Cornerstone is working, and clients feel comfortable sharing.

Help Us Keep Moving Forward:
Despite missed pay periods, my team and I continue to push forward because of stories like these. If you live in California, especially Southern California or Kern County, please sign the petition to allow Cornerstone to keep providing essential services to our Medi-Cal community.

The Power of Change.org:
Change.org petitions can create real change. With your signature, we are one step closer to continuing to serve our Medi-Cal community and ensuring everyone receives the care they need.
