Petition updateRequire Jetta Point Park to remain a wooded parkCall to Action! Provide input at Board of County Commissioners meeting Tuesday July 28 9:30AM

Our elected County Commissioners intend to sell Jetta Point Park for commercial development unless we, their constituents, actively oppose it.

Because Jetta Point is located directly uphill from our neighborhoods, this development poses a severe and direct threat to our homes. Please consider preserving this green space for several critical reasons:

  • Severe Flooding Risks: Jetta Point naturally absorbs rainwater. Local stormwater codes only require
developers to build retention ponds for 1.25 inches of rain runoff. When Hurricane Ian hit us, it dropped 16 inches. The excess water from this uphill commercial site will flow directly down into our yards and homes.
  • Financial Damage: Flooding diminishes property value. If this development goes through, expect your home value to drop while your insurance premiums and property taxes rise to pay for future drainage infrastructure and repair of existing stormwater management infrastructure.
  • Loss of Protected Wildlife: This land currently protects an active bald eagle nest and over 25 gopher
tortoise burrows.  Seminole County is branded “Florida’s Natural Choice” and wildlife is an essential
element.  Parks and greenspace increase property value and enhance our community.

How You Can Help:  We need a strong turnout at the upcoming County Board of Commissioners Meeting to stop this sale.  Please read how preserving Jetta Point Park can save taxpayer dollars while protecting and enhancing our community

  • When: Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 9:30 AM
  • Where: BCC Chambers, Seminole County Services Building (1101 East First Street, Sanford, FL)
  • Your Voice: Citizens get 3 minutes each to speak. Representatives of formal neighborhood groups get 6 minutes.
