Require Eastington Parish to correct the precept calculation error of 24/25.

Require Eastington Parish to correct the precept calculation error of 24/25.
The Issue
Following an error in the precept calculation for the tax year 24/25, residents of Eastington Parish have been overcharged. This error resulted in a 90.8% increase, compounding our financial burden during a cost of living crisis, and we believe it must be rectified.
A precept is the local tax that helps fund parish councils and their services. It is a critical pillar in our civic infrastructure, ensuring appropriate resources for public services and community projects. However, when errors occur, it is the taxpayers who bear the burden. In Eastington Parish, an error in calculating the precept for the tax year 24/25 has resulted in an unnecessarily high tax bill for the village's inhabitants.
A Band D property will be billed £157.31 this year, compared to £82.45 last year.
We urge the Parish Council to correct their mistake and propose that remedial action is best achieved by deducting the overpayment for 24/25 from the precept for the upcoming tax year, 25/26. This rectification will allow residents to receive the rightful restitution of their overpayment, whilst avoiding the costs and administration overhead of individual refunds.
Please sign this petition, and join us in asking the Parish Council to adjust the 25/26 precept in response to 24/25's overcharge.
For your signature to count, you need to be on the electoral register at an address within the Parish.
