For the families and residents of Holders Hill Cemetery is more than just a resting place for our loved ones—it is a sanctuary where we can come to remember, mourn, and celebrate the lives of those we have lost. Many, like myself, have family and friends laid to rest here; my Daughter, my Mother, and dear friends rest beneath the earth that should be a place of peace and dignity. However, each visit is a painful reminder of neglect as the grass remains uncut and grows higher than the headstones themselves. 

This petition addresses the grave issue of maintenance at Holders Hill Cemetery, urging Barnet Council to take immediate and consistent action to ensure the grounds are kept tidy. Grass and overgrowth obstruct not only the headstones but make it difficult and occasionally dangerous for elderly visitors and others to navigate the cemetery safely.

Neglected grounds do not only dishonour the memory of those who passed but also impact the community’s ability to grieve and find solace. The appearance of the cemetery reflects on our respect for the departed and maintaining it should be an essential service provided by our local government.

A concerted effort is required to implement a regular maintenance schedule for Holders Hill Cemetery. This includes frequent mowing of the grass, clearing of pathways, and attending to the general upkeep of the environment. These tangible actions are necessary and can be easily achieved by allocating the appropriate resources and personnel to this task.
