The introduction of Apple's M-series iPads has undoubtedly revolutionized the way students and developers approach mobile computing. However, despite their impressive capabilities, these devices lack an essential feature that could transform the educational and development experiences for countless individuals worldwide: the ability to run full Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) locally, such as Visual Studio Code.

As a student, I am reaching out on behalf of my peers who heavily rely on iPads for their educational needs. These devices are practical for many reasons—they're more portable and less fragile than laptops. They are a cost-effective option for students, especially in third-world countries where the price of a high-quality laptop often exceeds the financial reach of many families. iPads, with their affordability and robust design, are an excellent choice for students who need a reliable device for studying, creating, and more importantly, learning to code.

Currently, iPadOS does not support Just-In-Time (JIT) compilation or local code execution, rendering these advanced tablets incapable of running powerful IDEs natively. This limitation forces students to either shift to more expensive alternatives or struggle with less effective cloud-based solutions just to engage deeply in their coding courses. With the rise of programming education and its importance in the modern job market, being able to code directly on a device like an iPad would significantly enhance the skill development of students.

Implementing JIT compilation and enabling local code execution on M-series iPads could bridge this gap. By modifying iPadOS to support these features, Apple would empower a large demographic of eager learners and would demonstrate a steadfast commitment to the educational sector.

Countless students and budding developers are waiting for the opportunity to fully utilize their iPads in their academic and creative pursuits. This change would not only enhance their learning experience but also broaden the market reach for Apple's educational technology.
