The Issue

I've spent countless hours on hold, frustrated and helpless while trying to resolve simple issues with my telecom service providers. During one particularly painful experience, I needed to make changes to my account, only to find myself waiting for what felt like an eternity. One day, I called and they didn't put me on hold.  Why??  Their message when I called said "we have too many calls today, call us back another time" Sadly, my story isn't unique. Many Canadians find themselves in the same predicament, endlessly waiting for customer service representatives to address their queries.

It's no secret that Canada has some of the highest telecom rates in the world. With such high costs, one would expect the level of customer service to match. However, the reality is sobering. Whether it's billing inquiries, service disruptions, or account modifications, telecom providers have consistently taken their customer service to new lows. This is unacceptable.

We are calling on CRTC and the Canadian government to mandate a maximum response time of 10 minutes for all telecom companies operating within the country. Should these companies fail to adhere to this standard, they should face penalties proportionate to their customer service failures.  Spain currently has a law in place that grants the companies only 3 minutes - we think ten minutes is reasonable for Canada.

This change can be a catalyst for more accountable and efficient telecom services. By imposing these requirements, we can ensure that consumers receive prompt attention to their needs, reflecting the premium prices we pay.

Let's remind these companies that customers deserve better. It's time for Canadian telecom companies to step up their game and provide the service levels we are paying for.

Please join me in demanding better customer service from our telecom providers. Sign this petition to make CRTC and the Canadian government aware of our collective frustration and need for change.
