WE HAVE REACHED THE NEXT STAGE

When I started the Change.org petition, I wanted to find out if my experience with Rogers was an isolated incident or if Canadians across the country were dealing with the same nonsense.
1,173 Canadians have now signed. That's a pretty clear answer to my original question. We have a problem.
The Change.org petition was always intended to gauge the level of public concern. Now it's time to take the next step and push for action.
I've launched an official House of Commons e-petition calling on the federal government to direct the CRTC to establish an enforceable customer-service standard for Canadian telecom companies, including a maximum 10-minute telephone hold time to reach a human representative.

Once the parliamentary petition reaches 500 valid signatures, it can be certified and presented in the House of Commons. Once presented, the government has 45 days to respond.
That's a formal response, not a guarantee that we'll get the action we're looking for. But it's another step toward getting this issue in front of the people who can do something about it.
There's more happening. CBC Go Public is interviewing me on Thursday, and on December 1, I'll be appearing before the CRTC as it considers Canada's consumer protection rules.
So we're moving beyond simply pointing out the problem. We're asking for a specific, measurable change.
Here's where you can help.
If you haven't signed the House of Commons petition, please do so. And share it with anyone else who believes Canadians deserve reasonable access to customer service when they need it.
We've established that this issue matters to Canadians. Now let's see if we can get the government to do something about it.
Thanks to everyone who's helped get us this far. There's still work to do.
