My friend and I live in a school district where school starts in mid August. Even with the windows open, it’s still to hot. But Clara and I are one of the lucky ones. Imagine a school in California that starts at the same time our school does. Most states don’t have laws about A.C. On buses even though kids are more susceptible to overheating in a vehicle. Hundreds of kids in the country have gotten heat stroke or heat exhaustion from vehicles. And with climate change it’s only going to get worse and worse. Help us kids get the protection against overheating that we deserve by signing this petition and share to everyone you know. The fact that this is perfectly legal in most states is putting children in danger. You might think that this is avoidable by opening windows on the bus, but most bus drivers don't want students to open the windows because they have to have them all closed by the end of the day. When we're on the bus, we sweat through our clothes just sitting there. And we don’t even live in an arid state. The fact is, Air Conditioning is really the only way to fully avoid overheating on school buses.

Just to clarify, the Department of Transportation is not the final decision maker, I'm still looking into who is in charge of school buses on a national level.
