The Issue

The All Odisha Optometrist Association (AOOA) has been instrumental in uniting and strengthening the optometry community in the state. We appreciate their efforts and commitment towards enhancing optometry as a profession. However, for the sake of transparency, professional growth, and the collective development of optometrists across Odisha, it is essential to have clarity on certain aspects of the association's structure, governance, and future vision.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Greetings from the optometry fraternity of Odisha.

I would like to request clarification on a few points related to the structure, governance, and future vision of the association.

1. Role and Organizational Structure
Kindly clarify the official role, objectives, and organizational structure of the All Odisha Optometrist Association (AOOA).

2. Eligibility Criteria for Membership
What are the eligibility criteria for joining AOOA?
Is membership open to all qualified optometrists across Odisha, or is it limited to graduates from specific institutions?
Additionally, is leadership eligibility open to the entire optometry community, or restricted to members from particular institutions such as Centurion University or any other organization?

3. Current Board / Core Committee Details
Could you please share the list of the current board members, executive committee, or core team leading AOOA?

4. Appointment / Election Protocol
Who is the appointing authority for the core members of the association?
What process or protocol was followed to ensure that the present leadership represents the interests of optometrists across the entire state?

5. Decision-Making Structure
Is the decision-making process centralized within a specific group, or is there a formally constituted executive committee representing diverse institutions, districts, and practice sectors within Odisha?

6. Institutional Representation (Including LVPEI and Other Bodies)
LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) has been a major pillar in the development of optometry in India.
Could you kindly clarify whether there has been any institutional collaboration or invitation extended to LVPEI or other major optometry institutions to be part of AOOA activities?
If not, are there any future plans to include broader institutional representation?

7. Benefits of Joining AOOA
Why should a practicing optometrist in Odisha choose to join AOOA in addition to or instead of national bodies?
What specific state-level support, professional recognition, legal backing, academic opportunities, or career development benefits does AOOA provide to its registered members?

8. Future Vision and Key Goals (Next 5 Years)
Could you please share the key goals or milestones AOOA aims to achieve in the next five years?
In particular, how does the association plan to address:

   - Job security for optometrists in Odisha
   - Clinical and academic excellence
   - Standardization of practice
   - Government / policy-level recognition
   - Regulation of optometry profession at the state level

9. Financial Transparency and Governance
As per standard governance practices followed by professional associations, could you please inform where members can access the certified financial statements or financial disclosures of the previous financial year?
We would like to understand how membership funds are being utilized for professional development and association activities.

The intention of these questions is purely constructive, with the aim of ensuring that AOOA grows as a transparent, inclusive, and strong professional body representing all optometrists of Odisha.

We look forward to your clarification with in 1 Week Maximum with detail
