The Toyota Celica GT-Four is a WRC legend, but it is quietly disappearing from our roads.

​The GT-Four laid the engineering foundation for Toyota’s modern all-wheel-drive performance cars, including today's GR Yaris and GR Corolla. It holds a special place in the hearts of automotive enthusiasts worldwide. However, there is a growing crisis: these beloved homologation vehicles are facing forced retirement, not by choice, but due to a critical lack of genuine replacement parts.

​Currently, owners are hitting a wall. Vital components are completely discontinued by Toyota and impossible to source. While the lack of specialized suspension components is a massive and immediate safety concern, the parts drought extends far beyond that.

​Enthusiasts are struggling to keep these cars alive due to the discontinuation of:

​Fuel System Infrastructure:

Complete fuel tanks, hard lines, and specific fuel delivery components are entirely unavailable. This creates an immediate safety and fire risk for 25-year-old cars, turning a standard MOT failure into a death sentence for the vehicle.

​Critical Suspension & Steering Components: 

Unique geometry parts (such as the Superstrut joints) that cannot be safely substituted, forcing owners to risk driving on worn joints or park their cars indefinitely.

​Glass, Lighting & Exterior Trim:

The rear quarter glass has been discontinued for years, forcing owners to scavenge aging, second-hand glass from standard, non-turbo models if theirs gets damaged. This sits alongside the highly sought-after glass "Kouki" projector headlights—which are virtually impossible to source—and degraded weather seals, boot blocks, and window rubbers that lead to water ingress and rust.

​Drivetrain & Engine Specifics:

3S-GTE engine components and E154F gearbox parts that are vital to keeping the powertrain operational.

​The risk isn't just about losing a hobby; it is a significant safety and preservation issue. As components become impossible to replace, owners are forced into fabricating workarounds or permanently taking their cars off the road.

​Toyota Gazoo Racing’s stated mission for the GR Heritage Parts project is to "support customers who wish to continue driving older vehicles that are full of memories and that they truly love."

​We are incredibly grateful that Toyota has recognized the importance of preserving the A70/A80 Supra, the AE86, and the classic Land Cruisers through this program. But the four-wheel-drive pioneer of Toyota’s rally history is currently being left behind.

​I am calling on Toyota Gazoo Racing to address this urgent issue by integrating the Celica GT-Four (ST205, ST185, and ST165) into the GR Heritage Parts program. By reproducing key components, Toyota can ensure these iconic WRC legends remain on the road safely, preserving a vital piece of Gazoo Racing's own history.

​I urge every enthusiast who values automotive history, rally heritage, and safety to support this cause. Let's keep these legendary cars out of scrap yards and on the road where they belong.
