SA Government Support for SA Horse Racing

The SA Government recently announced cutting all funding to the SA horse racing industry, even though it continues to reap the benefits of a gambling consumption tax (the highest % in Australia) to the tune of $16 million per year.
THIS PUTS THE SA HORSE RACING INDUSTRY AND SA JOBS AT RISK.
The governments of other states support and promote their racing industries, receiving huge economic windfalls in return.
The horse racing industry is one of the largest employers in the state, both directly and indirectly, including but not limited to Trainers, Jockeys, Grounds Staff, Racecourse Management, Caterers, Stable Staff, Farriers, Vets, Saddlers, Feed Producers, Breeders and Agistment Owners.
Many of these jobs will be lost without government support as it becomes more and more attractive for trainers to move interstate, and owners to no longer support local trainers.
As a proud South Australian, we should always be promoting our state and it is always sad to see us falling further and further behind other states due to short sighted decisions and not looking towards the future.
