Request KEA to allow overlap with MCC NEET UG counselling

The Issue

To,

The Principal Secretary of Government
Department of Higher Education,
Karnataka Education Authority, Govt of Karnataka

Dear Sir,

MCC has once again extended the timeline for NEET UG counselling. We are requesting the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) to consider granting a few days of overlap with the MCC reporting window. This overlap would enable Karnataka candidates to make a more informed decision regarding their choice of medical colleges through MCC or KEA.

Without this overlapping window, candidates in Karnataka face the risk of losing out on overall seats. The restriction currently forces better-ranked Karnataka students to take admission within Karnataka even if they have opportunities in top medical colleges outside the state. This not only limits the prospects for these students but also potentially takes away medical seats that other candidates from Karnataka could benefit from.

For many aspiring medical students and their families, the stakes are incredibly high. The opportunity to select the best possible college is not just a matter of preference but also a significant factor that can shape their future careers. Granting a brief period of overlap in the reporting windows would provide students with the flexibility to opt for the most suitable choice, aligning with their career aspirations and personal circumstances.

It's crucial to align KEA actions with the current MCC schedule to provide equal opportunities to our deserving candidates. We urge the Department of Higher Education and KEA to take immediate action and allow this overlap. This change would not only benefit the current batch of students but also set a precedent for a more flexible and student-friendly counselling process in the future.

We request the higher authorities to consider this plea seriously.

Please support this petition and help us initiate necessary changes for the benefit of all aspiring medical candidates in Karnataka. Sign the petition to make a difference.
