Because you signed our successful petition to save Harvard alumni email, we thought that you might be interested in another petition circulated among alumni in response to the Trump administration’s threats targeted at Harvard. Because “desperate times call for desperate measures,” we are proactively sharing it with you. If you intend to sign, time is of the essence. The Board of Overseers and the Harvard Corporation are discussing this topic the weekend of April 5th, so please sign ASAP.
Background: You may have received President Alan Garber's email entitled "Our Resolve". Many feel that the tone of the letter was weak and saw the urgent need to stiffen the spine of the administration. Accordingly, members of the class of '91 have just created a petition on change.org: https://www.change.org/Harvard-alumni-against-tyranny, based in large part on a faculty sign-on letter, which over 800 Harvard faculty have already signed (which you can access via a link in the petition).
If you agree, please sign and share with your alumni networks (if you disagree, we respect your right to your opinion - please just ignore this appeal). We all know that the Trump administration moves quickly, so again, time is of the essence.
Let's let Harvard know that not only do we have its back, but that we demand that the University band together with other universities and colleges to resist as a group. In addition, we demand the condemnation of the actions of the Trump administration with full legal force, and the protection of Harvard students, faculty and staff from arbitrary detention or deportation. Thank you for your support!
