The Issue

When I decided to purchase the Chery Omoda E5 for RM146,800, it felt like a well-informed decision. The allure of a new vehicle that combined modern technology with a promising after-sales service made it a worthy investment. However, it has only been a short time since this vehicle's launch, and I, along with many others in Malaysia, have been faced with the reality that Chery has announced a significant rebate of RM48,000 for the same car.

This drastic price reduction seems like a great deal for new buyers, but what about those of us who invested earlier? Several owners, including myself, have reached out to Chery to voice our concerns and request some form of compensation for this unexpected and substantial price drop. Unfortunately, the company chose not to offer any relief, rebates or warranty extensions to the early buyers.

It's unfair that the early supporters of Chery's venture with the Omoda E5 are left at a disadvantage. We deserve recognition for our trust and loyalty, and it's only right that Chery provides tangible compensation to the original buyers. Free service within the warranty period or a complimentary warranty extension for the initial buyers would go a long way in showing that Chery values all its customers equally.

Our request is simple: extend the service and warranty period to match the benefits now available to new buyers at the reduced price. This will ensure that all customers are equitably treated and not punished for their early purchase.
