Request for termination of principal Sara Fernandez

The Issue

Request for of Principal Sara Fernandez Background
The Informed Parents of Redding STEM Academy are submitting a formal request to the school board for the termination of Principal/director Sara Fernandez. This request comes after several concerns have been raised by parents and guardians regarding the leadership and management practices at the school.
Concerns Raised
1. Communication Issues: Many parents have reported a lack of open communication between the principal/director and the school community. There have been instances where important decisions affecting students were made without adequate consultation or prior notification to parents. The principal/director is very dismissive to parents concerns when they are brought to her attention. Parents are left feeling frustrated instead of reassured.
2. Student Well-being: There have been complaints regarding insucient attention to student safety. Cannabis edibles, along with vapes have been distributed on campus without parental notification. Concerning documents have been found on school computers, again without proper notification to parents. We believe in full honesty when we are trusting our children in your hands. Trust has been broken and we want a leader who can guide us during dicult circumstances like the ones we have experienced this school year.
3. School Environment: The overall school environment and morale have been described by some parents as declining. It is not the once safe space it was for many of us for our children. Many have decided to pull their kids or are considering it. We believe in order for our school to not only survive, but thrive, we need to make a big change.
Parent Position
The Informed Parents of Redding STEM Academy believe that a change in leadership is necessary to address these issues and to realign the school with its mission and vision. The group has expressed a desire for a principal who is more engaged with the community, committed to maintaining high academic standards, and focused on fostering a positive and most importantly, safe, school environment.
Next Steps
The parents have requested a meeting with the school board to discuss these concerns in detail and to explore the possibility of appointing a new principal who can better meet the needs of Redding STEM Academy. They emphasize the importance of involving parents, teachers, and students in the selection process for a new principal/director to ensure that the chosen candidate aligns with the school's values and principles.

 Conclusion
The request for termination of Principal/director Sara Fernandez by The Informed Parents of Redding STEM Academy highlights significant concerns from the parent community. As the school board considers this request, it is essential to prioritize open communication and collaborative efforts to resolve the issues at hand, ultimately aiming for the betterment of the students' educational experience.
