The Issue

We, Certified Recovery Support Specialists (CRSS) and allies within Alabama’s substance use disorder and mental health recovery community, have created this petition because multiple CRSS professionals and others working in the field have voiced growing concerns regarding recent changes in Mark Litvine’s behavior, communication, and online activity.

Mark has been an important part of Alabama’s recovery community, and this petition is not intended to attack or punish him. We care about Mark and are genuinely concerned for his well-being. At the same time, his positions carry significant influence within the CRSS community, including responsibilities related to professional and ethical standards.

We respectfully ask Mark to temporarily step away from his leadership and ethics-related roles while these concerns are addressed.

As CRSS professionals, we have a responsibility to protect the integrity of our credentials, our profession, and the trust of the people we serve. We must be able to continue helping others without concerns surrounding leadership undermining the credibility of the CRSS profession.

This request comes from a place of compassion, concern, and accountability. We support recovery, including taking the time necessary to address personal challenges when they begin affecting professional responsibilities. We hope Mark will prioritize his well-being and, when appropriate, return to serving the recovery community that cares deeply about him.
