Petition Update: Formal Federal Action Taken
Important update:
Four federally recognized Section 106 consulting parties have jointly submitted a formal written request to FHWA, CTDOT, and the Connecticut State Historic Preservation Office regarding the proposed Cribari Bridge project.
The submission seeks written answers to major unresolved questions, including:
• impacts on the Bridge Street Historic District, not just the bridge itself
• traffic and truck-routing assumptions
• possible diversion from I-95 and app-based routing impacts
• indirect and cumulative effects on historic homes and neighborhood character
• the limited Area of Potential Effects (APE) used in the historic review
• newly referenced Right-of-Way impacts affecting “10+ properties and a dock” that have not been clearly identified
This is a formal administrative action under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, intended to ensure that federal review is complete, transparent, and based on current conditions before irreversible decisions are made.
