I am disgusted by the behavior of our current Independent Victorian Senator Lidia Thorpe. Her recent comments on 21/10/2024 inside of the parliament house before our King, stating "You are not my King", left me and many others feeling betrayed and embarrassed. Such statement, a direct denouncement of our Head of State, in my view, disqualifies her service to our nation. This is not the first instance of such behavior. The Senator's past performance and statements, available upon request, demonstrate a pattern of dissent and disrespect. To sustain the dignity of our House and the democratic norms, it's necessary to refer back to history. In 1920, the Member for Kalgoorlie, Hugh Mahon, was expelled from the House of Representatives for a statement he made at a public meeting. I believe it's crucial for our House to take similar strict action now. We ask the House to consider the expulsion of the current Independent Victorian SenatorLidia Thorpe as a reminder of the standards of conduct expected from our representatives. I urge each one of you who values respect and integrity in our parliament to sign this petition.
