Australia Needs a UAP Taskforce

The United States Congress has moved from decades of silence to structured, public UAP disclosure. It now uses a formal category — Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) — to describe objects and piloted crafts observed in the air, in space, or in the ocean that current physics and engineering cannot explain. Former Pentagon UAP Task Force liaison Col. Karl Nell has stated there is “zero doubt” non-human intelligence has visited Earth. Whistleblower David Grusch has testified before Congress about decades of undisclosed recovery and research efforts pertaining to damaged or intact UAP. UAP, are not attributable to any culture or nation on Earth, they are aerospace vehicles with direct association to Non-Human Intelligences. Bipartisan legislation has now passed the U.S. House of Representatives to force scheduled, public release of the evidence, through an independent review board with legal powers. The White House has also publicly supported UAP transparency efforts to disclose to the public the truth about UAP and Non-Human Intelligences. 
Australia has none of this. No taskforce, no timeline, no forum, no public discourse from leaders, no formal reporting pathway — at Commonwealth or state level. As a result, Australia is lacking in responsible strategy and vision.  

What we’re asking for:

A Commonwealth UAP Taskforce, developed in partnership with the states, to:

 ∙ Investigate and report on UAP incidents affecting Australian airspace, waters, and personnel.

∙ Establish an independent, non-political review board to lead the Task Force of members with expertise as— an astrophysicist, historian, psychologist, Educator, medical professional, Indigenous knowledge holder, engineer, religious studies scholar, philosopher, and representatives from the natural sciences and the arts — to assess findings and advise the taskforce free of partisan or institutional influence.

∙ Appoint members on merit and expertise, rather than political affiliation. Australians the public can trust — chosen through an open, visible process, not a closed appointment. With the board reporting findings and recommendations directly to the Prime Minister for public disclosure and acknowledgement.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

∙ Grant the review board full security clearance and access to relevant material, with narrow, defined exceptions only where disclosure would create a direct and immediate national security risk.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

 ∙ Give the public, pilots, and defence personnel a clear, protected way to report what they observe — through a simple national platform, with findings shared back publicly.

∙ Run a public education and mutual-understanding initiative alongside the taskforce’s work — helping Australians understand why early secrecy happened, that today’s officials inherited this position rather than created it, and that disclosure is a shared process, not an accusation.

∙ Directly address the core Non-Human Intelligence question, including any recovered craft — crashed, retrieved, or otherwise acquired — and associated materials, subject to independent scientific assessment. Along with any details that have been acquired by any functioning body of the Commonwealth Government concerning origin and intent of Non-Human Intelligences associated with UAP. 

∙ Engage allied and partner nations to share existing findings, in service of a shared human understanding of the phenomenon.

 ∙ Release core findings on a fixed, public timeline — not indefinitely, and not left to leak out piecemeal.

 ∙ Protect whistleblowers fully, so no one has to risk their career to tell the truth. And grant amnesty to first hand knowledge holders, both serving and retired, whom in their official capacity have interfaced with UAP and NHI. 

∙ Create and fund a dedicated UAP research stream — spanning private industry, Defence, and academia — to bring Australian scientific and engineering capability to bear on the phenomenon directly, and in collaboration with allies and friendly nations.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

 ∙ End the stigma, treating a UAP report as a legitimate observation worthy of calm, professional review.

∙ Develop a national framework for open engagement in a post-acknowledgment environment — public communication, and pathways to ensure any contact benefits Australian society.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Why now
This is a modest, measured request: not for classified detail that would harm national security, but for the core truths about UAP and the associated Non-Human Intelligences. For comparison, the equivalent US body is funded at roughly USD $20 million in its first year — a small, justifiable cost next to what’s already spent on defence, and next to what’s at stake in understanding the biggest questions in our nations history.
Australia has the chance to be a thought leader on this conversation in our region, alongside allies like the U.S.A. and New Zealand, rather than wait to be told what’s already been decided elsewhere, or be left behind by adversarial nations.
