Request Australia Post deliver mail to Yallingup / Yallingup Ridge areas

The issue

Many residents of Yallingup find themselves paying $49-$90 a year to rent a PO Box while watching the Postman drive past their houses.

The current mail route brings the Postman to Yallingup area - but only partially.

This petition isn't only about the yearly PO Box rental fee, which has increased significantly over recent years.
It's also about the time, fuel cost, and having to travel to the Dunsborough and Yallingup Post Offices - especially during the busy holiday seasons when parking is a nightmare for both residents and tourists alike.
What is usually an average 35min round trip into Dunsborough to get the mail, turns into a 1 - 1.5hr trip during the busiest times of the year. 10-15mins drive into town - 5-10mins to park (if a park is available), 10-30min wait in the post office (sometimes the line is out the door), and then another 10-15mins drive home.

Let’s take a minute to think about ill or disabled residents that have to do this, or their carers, and how hard this must be for them.
Why are residents having to do this? Especially when the postman is already working in the vicinity?

Dunsborough and Yallingup townships aren’t the sleepy little towns they once were and reducing traffic to these areas by the way of residents not having to frequent the Dunsborough and Yallingup Post Offices would be highly beneficial in reducing congestion.

Residents have expressed interest for Australia Post to extend their delivery services specifically to include the broader Yallingup / Yallingup Ridge areas, including Cornerstone Way, Biddle Rd, Balmoral Dr, Maclaren Dr, Sonning Loop, Kinross St, Hebrides St, Commonage Rd, Summerville Crescent, Woodbridge Vale, Lombo View, Rapida Rise, Marrinup Dr, Summer Br, Koorabin Dr, Porter Cr, Shallows Lp continuing towards the Yallingup Post Office.

The current situation is not only inconvenient but also an unnecessary expense for residents who can literally see their mail being driven past their homes by the Postman on an almost daily basis.

The properties in question are only a 10 minute drive from Dunsborough and a 5-10 minute drive from Yallingup. An extension to the existing mail route could easily incorporate the residential properties of these areas.

Australia Post's mission statement claims they aim "to provide reliable and affordable postal services that meet customer needs".

Yet in our case here in Yallingup WA, this mission seems unfulfilled. We are asking for fair treatment from Australia Post and  deserve the same service that other communities across Australia enjoy - direct home mail delivery.

Please sign this petition if you believe that all residents of Yallingup should have their mail delivered directly to their homes without any additional costs or inconveniences. Your support will make a difference in our community's fight for fair postal service.
