Thank you, thank you, to the over 10,000 good people who signed my petition!!!! This was amazing. Sadly however, in researching for myself how I would go about writing in Mitt Romney's name for President I discovered that it's too late in Utah and in most other states for his name to be counted. According to Ballotpedia (www.ballotpedia.org) "In 34 states, a write-in presidential candidate must file some paperwork in advance of an election. In nine states, write-in voting for presidential candidates is not permitted. The remaining states do not require presidential write-in candidates to file special paperwork before the election." Voters in Oregon, Iowa, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Delaware you are are the privileged few who may still write-in Mitt Romney or the name of another candidate for President. Please use your vote wisely. Learning about these restrictions regarding write-in candidates for president seems to me just another indicator that there something terribly wrong with with the election process in the United States. And for me there still is no candidate on the ballot that I believe has both the character AND the qualifications to serve as president of the United States. Accordingly, I will still write in Mitt Romney for president of the United States even though I now know it won't be counted in Utah. Meanwhile the signatures added to this petition, and especially the thousands of wonderful comments that were posted, show me that I am not alone in my desire for our country to somehow and in someway find good leaders for our future. Let us all still carefully consider our local elections and ballot initiatives and vote appropriately. May God continue to bless the United States of America.
