Acquittal to the Middle East Technical University (METU) Pride Parade!
Hearing: 8 October 2021
METU Pride Parade had been a peaceful event since 2011. However, in the parade that was held in 2019, the police forces who entered the campus upon the invitation of METU Rectorate attacked the crowd and detained 21 students and 1 academic.
Today, 19 people who were tortured and whose rights were violated are still on trial and 12 students and 1 academic are facing 3-years in prison.
The hearing will be on 8 October, at 10:00 in Ankara Courthouse.
With this petition campaign we started as UniKuir Association, we demand an end to this unlawful trial and demand acquittal for all our friends who are on trial at the hearing to be held on 8 October.
We invite everyone who reads our petition to sign for the freedom of our friends who are on trial for using their fundamental human rights. Our campaign will continue on social media with #ayberaatver hashtag until the hearing date.
Let’s come together to call the Ministry of Justice to put an end to the violations of rights to assembly and demonstration of LGBTI+s. Let's protect our constitutional rights together.
