We have successfully fought in the Algarve against oil and gas exploration for past 8 years, but that fight was child’s play compared with what is happening now.
In an unbelievable move, the Portuguese government has decided to “SELL/Give away” in the next few months more than 20% of our territory.
We are talking about 1,831,420.6ha being up for grabs by mining exploration companies!

Since the disastrous fires that gutted Portugal in 2017, we have been doing extensive research in the background, and have been collating thousands of snippets of information in order to build the true picture of what is being implemented by the government, based on documented facts.
The picture that is now unfolding, is scary!
We are in the process of uploading hundreds of articles into our website to expose the magnitude of this madness.
There is only one way to fight this and this is through the Courts and the research must carry on and intensify, in order for us to build a strong legal defence against this inhuman assault on the future of Portugal.
But in order to have a chance of success and to do it properly, we need to invest together with our partners and colleagues many hours into this process. We will have to incur many costs, for which we do not have the necessary funds.
But to do it properly, we have to start now.
We need to raise at least 30,000€ to cover some of the upcoming costs. And if we don’t raise the money we need, we’ll have to scale down our ambition, or worse, not do it at all.
It’s a big challenge but we have to try - the future of Portugal as we know it, is at risk.
If we do not stop this attack on our natural resources, the government will escalate this attack and we will be left with a Portuguese nation, which for all ends and purposes, will be turned into the “Skunk Works” of Europe. A destroyed nation.

At ASMAA we care deeply for our COUNTRY, for its natural beauty. We care for our local economies, as well as the people living in rural areas across target mining exploration areas. We also care deeply about our nature and its ecosystems.
But it’s clear that if we don’t take action now, and join hands with the communities that will be deeply affected, the whole country will loose. We will all loose.
