Dear Friends / Supporters
For the next 6 months we want to continue to help as many of the fire victims from Monchique and Silves that we can, get back some of what they have lost when their homes burned down, especially those that fall outside official state help. (And there are many)
Currently we are waiting until more people have found long-term accommodation before transporting other large type items that we already have in storage in our warehouse in Barãp de São João just outside Lagos, such as beds and lounge suits / couches, etc., although, smaller items are being delivered in the meanwhile to affected individuals in Monchique.
Many of the collections and deliveries that we have done so far, has resulted in ASMAA carrying heavy transport costs when our friends vans were already in use. That made us realise that if we want to be effective, we need our own van, so that we can collect and deliver furniture items to where it’s most needed as quickly as possible.
A kind soul that saw our plight has offered to donate the first 1000€ towards the transport van - don't you want to add to his offer too by making a Donation today?
We have looked around for a second hand van, and have found that with a budget of between 4000€ and 5000€ we can purchase a suitable van for our association, which will be used in our social division helping not only victims of fires such as the latest ones in Monchique and Silves, but also continue to provide the necessary long-term support to families in need across the Algarve.
This means that we are now looking to raise the next 3000/4000€ (unless someone is willing to donate a Portuguese registered van to us – we and all the beneficiaries would be eternally grateful for)

STILL NEEDED
The following items are needed for Monchique (just let us know if you have any items that you no longer use) and we’ll try and organise collections e delivery until we get our own van.
General: Household appliances, Water Pipes & Water tanks, Family tents & Caravans, Construction Tools & Hardware, Working Gloves, Brooms and brushes, Shade Cloths, Cleaning Materials, Safety Glasses and Masks.
Agricultural Tools: Harrows, Hoes, Saxons, Wheel Barrows/Handcarts, Rakes, Saws, Cleaver, Chainsaws, Wood Handles, Pruning Shears (Large)
