Dear friends
By now most of you are aware that the Algarve is going up in smoke, resembling a “Scorched Earth” scenario. At ASMAA we have been working round the clock helping where needed since the fires started last Friday.
For the past 6-months we have stockpiled goods in our warehouse and at our charity shop in preparation for a major disaster. We are glad that we did it, as it has helped us react immediately. We still have many items left, sufficient to help more than 100 people, which we will distribute where needed once fires are brought under control.
What we are short at the moment is non-perishable foods, and toiletries, so that we can prepare packs to go to families, once they leave their places of temporary accommodation.
We are asking for donations of shelves (20), medical supplies, food and money, which will be used to top-up what, we have already.

GALP/ENI THREAT IS STILL AROUND THE CORNER
(15 September)
We are getting ready to submit our injunction to try and stop the drilling this year. But the fires have taken the focus away from this very serious risk that is just around the corner, and has not gone away.
We still need to raise funds to cover legal costs including critical technical opinions from international reputable experts. If you can help we will be very grateful.
