Just wanted to publish an update on progress of "Laura's Law."
Our HB 1038 did not become law in Session 2022. It did, however, earn a special "Summer Study" session, to make this bill more water tight, in order to pass into law in Session 2023! I will not stop until this is a LAW!
Representative Payne did ask if he could co-author the bill, before the 2022 Session, with Representative Engleman, to which I agreed. She has more experience, as I have been told, with women's laws and DV laws. The more the merrier! I've included her bio sheet in this email.
Also, I have been asked if I could include ALL info on both representatives, in order for people to write and e-mail on this bill to encourage both Reps to get this introduced into law -- specifically to let them know that people STILL know that it's necessary! Here is their info:
- Representative Zach Payne, Republican, District 66
- Representative Karen Engleman, Republican, District 70
Address: Indiana House of Representatives, 200 W. Washington Street
Indianapolis, IN 46204
Phone: (800) 382-9841
E-Mail: https://www.indianahouserepublicans.com/forms/contact-your-representative
- Choose the appropriate representative's name from the drop-down menu
I will also be conversing with ICADV legal counsel, in hopes of getting them together with this awesome duo...failure is NOT an option and I have NOT given up on this! I will not rest until "Laura's Law" is signed into Law!
Love and Light,
- Laura
