Dear Friends,

The Board of Knowledge Network meets tomorrow.

Our petition, flawed as some might believe it was, catapulted the story of a flawed racial audit and executive accountability into multiple stories in the media.

We hope it began conversations, some uncomfortable, about race and representation, about equity, privilege and bias in media and other public institutions. Some Board Members, a few brand new to the position, had no idea about the toxic history of the organization until the audit, and then our petition. Others likely had a hand in enabling a long history of bias in the name of executive and editorial independence. We will not know for sure.

All we can hope for is that they have all heard our voices, that they will decide to be bold and make a collective decision to choose a fresh new inclusive vision for the future of Knowledge.

If so, we stand ready to work alongside them, partnering and supporting them every step of the way as they build diverse audiences, diverse programming and a diverse donor base.

We want to be part of the solution, not just be those uncool people in the back of the room always pointing out the gnat in the ointment.

We hope we can bring an end to this portion of our advocacy and become a partner to province-wide change soon.

In Solidarity!

Your Friends @ Equity
