Replace Bon Appetit on Biola's campus

The Issue

As a student at Biola University, I have personally experienced the struggle with our campus dining services. The current provider, Bon Appetit, consistently fails to meet the basic standards of quality and nutrition that we not only expect but deserve. The food offerings are frequently under or over-cooked, lack the necessary nutrients for a healthy diet, and yet we continue to pay a high price through our mandatory meal plans.

The situation reached a critical point recently when the Biola Café, managed by Bon Appetit, received a 'C' grade for health code violations. This is a clear indication that our concerns go beyond mere dissatisfaction and venture into the realm of safety and health risks. These violations should not be taken lightly, as they affect the well-being of every student on campus.

Students with dietary restrictions, such as allergies, find it especially challenging to navigate the limited options available. Bon Appetit has repeatedly failed to accommodate these needs, leaving many to question their commitment to student health and inclusivity. Whether it's gluten, dairy, or nut allergies, students are left with few or inadequate choices, posing a risk to their health and greatly diminishing their college experience.

The crux of the issue lies in the incongruence between the exorbitant fees we pay and the substandard services we receive. It's time for Biola University to take immediate action and replace Bon Appetit with a food distributor who values quality, nutrition, and student satisfaction. The well-being of students must be prioritized, and viable alternatives should be considered, ones that not only provide healthy and diverse meals but also cater to specific dietary needs.

Biola’s administration has a responsibility to ensure that the dining services meet the expectations of the student body. By choosing a new food provider, we can improve the quality of campus life significantly, making it conducive for all students, including those with allergies or specific dietary requirements.

Join me in calling for change. Let's urge Biola University to replace Bon Appetit with a reliable food distributor who prioritizes our health and satisfaction. Your support can help bring about this vital improvement for all current and future students. Sign this petition to demand better dining services on Biola's campus.
