The social media ban implemented in Australia would not only silence the freedom to express for teenagers under 16 but also lead to much more devastating consequences.

The social media ban may also introduce teenagers to the world of cybercrime. Teenagers may:

1. Use Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to change their location and open up new social media accounts.

2. Buy fake IDs for verification from online vendors.

3. Buy social media accounts from online vendors.

4. Use alternate social media platforms.

I would like to also express my concerns for privacy and security. Any personal information, such as IDs on a social media platform, is a major cybersecurity risk. The personal information of Australian users may get leaked if the database is ever breached by malicious actors.

We can all deduce that the social media ban would only lead to bigger consequences in the future. Social media platforms should have better moderation teams and content-filtering to prevent grooming and cyberbullying.
