The Issue

As a fellow resident of the Eagledale area for over a decade, I have experienced first-hand the substandard conditions of our roads, which have caused my vehicle substantial damage over the years. Bent rims, blown out tires, and premature suspension failure are not unusual for anyone utilizing roads in this neighborhood. For years, I have watched a neighbor use a magnet to pick up nails dislodged from construction trailers due to a collapsed section of road in front of his home.

The condition of our roads aren’t just a hazard to local drivers, but for all traveling to Indianapolis. *Where every year 300,000-350,000 people travel through these streets for the Indy 500 in May alone.*

The inconvenient, and often costly, patch jobs are no solution; they're Band-Aids trying to stop a hemorrhage. We need thorough resurfacing of our community's roads - a long-term solution to a long-standing problem. Roughly 15% of vehicle compensation claims in Indianapolis in 2017 were due to poor road conditions, costing taxpayers an astonishing amount of money (Street roughness and economic cost, World Bank, 2017).

Eagledale deserves better. Not tomorrow, not next year; we need action now. The personal costs for our inhabitants from these damaged roads are increasing day by day. Join me in calling for a change. Let your voice reach the Indianapolis government - let's urge them to repave all roads in Eagledale and provide our community the protection and quality it rightfully deserves. Sign this petition.
