Repair the intercom system intermittent "popping" at Riverside Square

Repair the intercom system intermittent "popping" at Riverside Square
The Issue
We, the undersigned residents of Riverside Square, are calling for immediate action regarding a persistent and distressing issue stemming from the integration of communication systems across our buildings in April 2024.
Since the integration, residents across all affected buildings have experienced ongoing problems with the intercom systems, including intermittent “popping” noises and high-frequency sounds. These sounds are not only disruptive, but they have had a severe impact on pets—causing them to shake, hide, salivate, and, in many cases, refuse to return to their units. While these noises often accompany fire alarm testing, they also occur unpredictably during other building maintenance procedures, such as sprinkler system tests.
Despite numerous complaints over the past year, the current response from property management—that residents should simply be notified in advance of testing—is inadequate. Advanced notice does not resolve the root problem, nor does it prevent the physical and emotional distress these sounds cause to both pets and people.
Residents of Riverside Square pay to live in safe, comfortable homes. We should not be forced to remove our pets from our units to protect their wellbeing, nor should we have to tolerate an environment that negatively impacts our daily lives.
We therefore request the following:
- A full investigation into the source of the high-frequency and popping sounds since the April 2024 system integration.
- A clear timeline and plan to identify and implement a permanent solution that eliminates these sounds entirely.
- Consideration of a rollback or revision of the communication system if no alternative resolution is found.
We believe that a return to the pre-integration state—or an equivalent solution that ensures peace of mind—is both reasonable and necessary.
We urge you to prioritize this issue promptly, and we look forward to a transparent and action-oriented response.
