We, the undersigned, respectfully request a formal review and reopening of the investigation into the death of Steve Roberts, which occurred on June 27, 2025.

After obtaining and reviewing the investigative records, including police reports, body camera footage, and the autopsy report, our family has developed serious concerns regarding the thoroughness and objectivity of the original investigation.

A minor child present at the scene provided multiple statements to responding officers and investigators, expressing fear and describing events and circumstances that he believed were significant. These statements, which are documented in reports and body camera footage, include descriptions of an argument, damage within the home, and fear of a parent. The child also indicated he did not feel safe and was afraid to remain in that environment.

Additionally, the autopsy report documents multiple injuries, including lacerations and abrasions to Steve Robert's face and body, as well as a determination that he drowned under suspicious circumstances. These findings raise important questions about the events leading up to his death.

There are also documented inconsistencies between statements made during the investigation and information reflected in reports, witness accounts, and body camera footage. These discrepancies warrant careful, independent review.

Further, statements made to our family by the lead investigator appear to conflict with remarks captured on body camera footage regarding prior familiarity with an individual connected to the case. While we are not asserting wrongdoing, this raises concerns about a potential conflict of interest and the need for an impartial reassessment.

This petition is not intended to accuse or defame any individual. It is a call for transparency, accountability, and a comprehensive, unbiased review of all available evidence.

We respectfully request:

A full and independent reopening of the investigation

Review of all body camera footage and documented witness statements

Consideration of the minor child’s statements and expressed concerns for safety

Evaluation of any inconsistencies or conflicting accounts

Review of any potential conflicts of interest in the original investigation

Our father deserved a thorough and unbiased investigation. Our family deserves answers.

We urge the appropriate authorities to take another look at this case and ensure that no critical detail has been overlooked.
