During Election Day, the backbone of the American economy, our working class, are stuck at work, unable to go out and make their voice heard through the power of the vote. Even on the most important day of our democracy, hundreds of workers don’t have paid time off to go vote at their local voting centers and don’t have sufficient time off to complete their mail-in ballot after a long day at work. By signing this petition, you help reopen a congressional bill that would create a national holiday and give the working class a greater opportunity to make their voice heard.

If things remain the same, voter turnout will continue to stay low among the working class. If given time off, we predict a substantial increase in voter turnout. This allows everyone to be on leveled when it comes to elections and promotes proper representation. 

Now is the time to act. As observed during the 2024 U.S elections, there was an enormous decrease in voter turnout by approximately 15 million people. The 2028 elections have an opportunity to have record breaking numbers of voters with the passing of the Election Day Holiday Act. So help us give the working class a voice and build a democracy that works for us all.
