Hello my name is Leon, back in 2015 I planned to build a skid pad and drift track on my family's private land in rural Rotorua area. At the start it was just for me my family and friends to use to keep us off of the streets keeping everyone safe, then friends of friends found out and more and more after that and then it turned into something bigger than I expected and decided to open it to the public to use as well. So at the beginning of 2016 me and my dad built the skid pad out of concrete on our private land, I've paid for everything from my own pocket. I made a Facebook page (Ngongotaha Motorsport) for everyone to follow and keep up to date with events etc, I also put in safety measures such as barrier around the skid pad, put in rules and regulations for the drivers and spectators at events to abide by just like at every other licensed Motorsport facility in nz. I opened my facility to the public July 2016 and held over 50 successful event days over a 2 year period that i was operating for, events ranged from parents wanting to teach their teenagers how to control a car, done fundraising days to help people/kids with illnesses, car meet ups, normal skid days, to full on skid competitions, hired out for birthdays and more. People travel from all over the country it's not just the ones in Rotorua/B.O.P who want to use my facility as motorsports facilities are in hi demand these days and there aren't many around the country and the ones that are available to use are expensive just for one day of fun, unlike my facility it was cheapest place in nz. Since i was shut down by Rotorua council in 2018 everyone just uses the public roads/streets again leaving rubber marks shredded tyre and rubbish everywhere for others to clean up, not to mention the disturbance they make specifically at night or early hours in the mornings disrupting working peoples sleep as well as babies and elderly. This will carry on if not get worse over time and someone will eventually get seriously hurt. After 2years of successfully operating my facility without any health and safety issues or accidents at all, In 2018 Rotorua council forced me to shut down my facility or I'd be taken to court and possibly sentenced to jail time, due to one household ringing and complaining multiple times, and eventually using false statements/statements they couldn't/didn't want to prove to finally get me shut down. (Such as their cow dieing due to smoke inhalation being one of them).

But in saying that, this year there has been a change in Rotorua council and some new council members are wanting to make the communities safer and have been informed of my facility and have then asked for me to do this petition. So it would be a great thing for all communities if I could get your signature in favor for my facility it'll help get all the boy racers off of the streets again and back in a safe and controlled environment keeping the public roads/streets safer quieter and clean.
