We, the undersigned, call upon the Shreveport Mayor’s Capital Improvements Committee, the Shreveport City Council and Mayor Tom Arceneaux to include funding to reopen Lake Street between Fant Parkway and Spring Street (Louisiana Highway One) in the Mayor’s proposed Bond Issue scheduled for Spring 2024.  City funding will provide the basis for construction of safety improvements at the Lake Street railroad crossing and other nearby rail crossings to create a “Quiet Zone” at this entrance to Downtown Shreveport. Upon completion of these improvements, Lake Street, closed in part since 2015 and completely last year, can once again permit convenient motorist access to Sci-Port, Festival Plaza, the Lake Street hotel and business corridor, and all of Downtown Shreveport.
