For Bembridge residents, the beach has always been a central part of the community's life. Unfortunately, recent actions by the harbour master have shut down a car park that has offered locals access to the beach for more than a century. This access allowed individuals like my mother, who is local and currently rather frail, to be driven down for serene sea views. Sadly, this can no longer happen, and her connection to the local beauty and tranquility of our beach has been severed.

This car park has not only served as a gateway to the beach for families, friends, and individuals seeking peace and recreation but also for various water sports enthusiasts such as boaters, windsurfers, and paddleboarders. Its closure has also hampered the ability of the RNLI to effectively monitor the treacherous waters for public safety.

For the past century, this access point has been a crucial community asset, ensuring that everyone, regardless of physical ability, had the chance to enjoy Bembridge's natural surroundings. The sudden closure ignores the needs and traditions of the local residents who have cherished it for generations.

We are seeking to reopen the Bembridge Harbour Beach Car Park to restore this vital connect to our community’s heritage and lifestyle. Embracing a solution that respects both the harbor's operational needs and community access is essential.
