Reopen The Harwich To Esbjerg FerryCopenhagen, Denmark
Sep 15, 2015
Last year on the 29th of September the final ferry route operated it's last leg between England and Denmark when DFDS announced plans to scrap the historical route. They claimed that passenger numbers were down to a unprofitable low. I did the math and the Vessel currently working in Esbjerg until the end of this month, which takes 243 passengers per sailing could take 242 passengers if DFDS's estimate of 80000 passengers use the route each year. This shows that DFDS were operating a boat to large for the route. If the vessel Patria Seaways which will be off charter soon operates the route from next year, the route could opeate a full crossing each day with the estimate of passengers given by DFDS. To work it out you you do 6 x 52 which would be 312 (yearly sailings, including holidays) and divide 80,000 by 312 and that gives you 256, which means that DFDS will be turning passengers away if Patria Seaways is used.
