Originally a sci-fi coming-of-age comic series from 2015, Paper Girls was released as an Amazon Original Series on July 29, of this year. The comic series was incredible, with many fantastic critic reviews. The show managed to live up to the source material, a huge achievement for television. And don't just take our word for it, the show got a 90% critic rating and an 88% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, as well as a 4.5/5 star review on Google.

Unfortunately, a few hours ago (of writing this), Amazon decided to cancel the show, meaning there is not going to be another season. This is really heartbreaking news because there is so much left to explore in the world of Paper Girls, not to mention the big cliffhanger season 1 left off on.

Amazon's main reason for canceling seems to be the low-viewing numbers, but I really think this has a lot to do with the poor marketing/advertising of the show. I did not hear many people talking about this show, not even on social media. Luckily, Legendary Television (one of the producers of the show), is trying to find another streaming service/outlet for season 2 of the show. This time, with some better marketing, this show does have the potential to be much bigger.

This show (and comic series) means a lot to a lot of people, its relatable characters and great representation of the LGBTQ+ community have many fans feeling connected and represented. 

The goal of this petition is to get either Amazon - or another streaming service - to renew Paper Girls for season 2. Thank you for reading.
