Andi Mack is a very popular show, even more popular than some longer-running Disney Channel TV shows. Andi Mack is an important show because it tells young people and really people of all ages it's ok to be whoever you are. It shows that being different is ok and not necessarily bad.

Andi Mack also made history for Disney as their first Disney Channel show to have a character say the words "I'm gay" and to have 2 major characters who are gay. It was the first Disney Channel show to be centered around an Asian-American family and to discuss teen pregnancy. Andi Mack is the first Disney Channel show to directly address and realistically portray anxiety disorder and panic attacks.

It featured a character with a learning difference. Andi Mack featured a deaf character and American Sign Language (ASL).
