Renew ABC’s Agent Carter for a season 3 or a movie of sorts to finish the storyline
The Issue
Agent Carter was a great inspiration for many showing that even in the times of the 1940s, where women were seen to be lesser than men, that you can still make a change and be your best despite of others opinions and ideas as shown by Miss Carter. She continues to shine through the darkness no matter what she faces including not getting recognition for her successful mission. Her coworker, Daniel Sousa, asks her why she isn’t upset by the fact that she isn’t getting recognition for her work and letting someone else take credit. In which she states, “I don’t need a congressional honor. I don’t need Agent Thompson’s approval or the president’s. I know my value. Anyone else’s opinion doesn’t really matter.” As well, Agent Peggy Carter is one of Marvel’s first projects with a strong female lead, being a great example for all ages. Although this show is focused around Peggy and her quest to make a difference and seeking justice in a world full of injustice, there is humor throughout the show. From Jarvis, a dedicated butler to billionaire Howard Stark who helps Peggy through her missions and Howard himself bring a sense of light hearted humor to the show. At the end of season two we face multiple cliffhangers including Agent Thompson being shot and files of M. Carter being stolen by an unknown identity. The show has a great storyline that can easily be followed and continued onward for 1 or many more seasons. While at this point it has been quite a while since the ending of the show (almost 10 years) many of the actors have expressed interest in continuing their character’s story line if provided the chance, especially two main actors Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter) and James D’Arcy (Edwin Jarvis). In conclusion, while at the time it didn’t have the largest fan base, leading to the current end of the show, it has the original Marvel charm to it. As well, it received an 86% average tomato meter score and an 77% popcorn meter, showing that the people who did watch the show enjoyed it. I hope everyone can take some time out of their busy days to sit down and enjoy this wonderful show, even if we never get a conclusion to season two.
