The Issue

Charlie Kirk, a beloved husband, father, youth leader, and political organizer, was tragically assassinated on September 10, 2025, by a young man radicalized in college to despise conservatives.

This heinous act took the life of a man who ardently believed in the power of nonviolence and the teachings of Jesus Christ. Just moments before his untimely death, Charlie had spoken in glowing terms of his respectful admiration of members of The Church of Jesus Christ, noting that "half his team is Mormon," according to reporting in the New York Post on September 12, 2025.

The state of Utah, with its profound historical roots established by Mormon pioneers who themselves fled persecution, embodies the principles Charlie stood for: peace, community, and resilience against hatred. Naming University Parkway in Orem and Provo, Utah, after Charlie Kirk would serve as a poignant tribute to his enduring legacy and beliefs. It would honor not only his memory but also the values of  acceptance, actual tolerance, and civilized, respectful dialog for which he fervently advocated.

Charlie's vision was of a community united in love and mutual respect, and renaming this important thoroughfare would inspire future generations to remember the importance of understanding and tolerance.

His tireless work in the realm of political organization and youth leadership has left a significant impact, and this dedication would recognize his immense contributions.

We urge local city councils, government officials, and community leaders in Orem and Provo to support this initiative. By doing so, they will recognize the value of preserving Charlie Kirk's legacy in a manner that continuously inspires and educates those who travel along this path.

Support this petition to rename University Parkway as Charlie's Kirk Memorial Parkway and help enshrine the values of passion, peace, and perseverance in our community.
