As a close friend to many who identify as Rizzlers, this is a deeply personal issue. Changing the name of America’s beloved candy, Twizzlers, to Rizzlers, a consistently overlooked minority, may seem inconsequential or silly to some, however, it is far beyond that. This small change can embolden a community underrepresented and overlooked, encouraging diversity and individuality; values that America has endeavored to cultivate. 

Twizzlers are an iconic candy in many countries, particularly in the United States where over 1 million pounds are produced weekly (source: The Hershey Company). Reimagining them as, ‘Rizzlers’ can offer a nuanced recognition of the great achievements that many from the Rizzler community have brought to society. 

A powerful company, such as the Hershey’s Company, can be instrumental in bringing about this change. By renaming Twizzlers to Rizzlers, they are not only promoting their brand as inclusive and supportive but also offering a condensed representation of the diverse society we live in today.

We’re not asking for a drastic change in the product. We’re merely asking for a nudge - a recognition in the name of diversity, individuality, and the Rizzlers among us. It is a small ripple to encourage society to grow, diversify, and empower every unique individual to become their own Rizzler.
