This campaign is built on a deeply personal foundation. As residents of Crestview, we harbor much love and respect for our local park, currently named "Twin Hills." However, the park stands as more than a tribute to geographical features; it symbolizes our connected community, our shared experiences, and our collective memories. We are requesting a name change to honor a special person of our community, Kadance Elise Fredericksen.

Kadance Elise Fredericksen was a beloved child of our community, she was awarded Citizen of the year two years in a row, Kadance proudly represented the Community as Miss Okaloosa Teen USA, whose spirit and happiness left a profound impact on everyone she met. She was an advocate for Child abuse awareness and animal welfare. Kadance pioneered a foundation Kada's Promise "an organization that has collected over 15000 teddy bears worldwide for children in crisis she has volunteered over 1200 hours of community service where she earned Congressional award for her community outreach. She is Someone with a heart for nature and a love for animals and was inspired to become a veterinarian. she was a person who cherished her family and friends and was an inspiration to whomever was to meet her. by renaming "Twin Hill's" Park to "Kadance Elise Fredericksen Park," we aim to ensure her memory is preserved for generations, continuing to inspire and instill a sense of unity within our community.

While it is difficult to quantify the emotional impact of this decision, research has shown that place names carrying local significance can enhance community identity and emotional attachment (Cohen AP, 1985, The Symbolic Construction of Community). This name change will serve not only as a memorial to Kadance but as an affirmation of our community's shared values and experiences.
