We have officially passed 1,000 signatures — now sitting at 1,034 supporters!!
I wanted to give everyone an update because Council’s last response confirmed that the First Nations Liaison Officer has met with the family to better understand their wishes and preferences regarding the proposed memorial and renaming of Toolooa Park to JCJ Memorial Park.
Council advised that the consultation process is ongoing and may take an extended period of time. They have confirmed they will continue engaging directly with the family over the coming months so their views can be appropriately considered.
Council has also advised that they cannot provide ongoing detailed updates throughout the consultation process, and that if a formal proposal progresses through Council’s decision-making processes, the relevant outcomes will be communicated through the appropriate channels.
So, while there is no final decision yet, this matter is still very much active.
And now, with 1,034 people standing behind this petition, our community support has grown even further since Council’s last correspondence.
A massive thank you to every single person who has signed, shared, promoted, put up flyers, spoken about JCJ, or simply kept the conversation going.

We will continue to respectfully support the family, allow the consultation process to take place, and keep advocating for the community’s request for JCJ Memorial Park.
This isn’t about rushing the process,
It’s about making sure the community voice remains strong while that process continues.
