Rename the Gulf of Maine to the Gulf of New Hampshire

Rename the Gulf of Maine to the Gulf of New Hampshire
The Issue
The Gulf of Maine has long been a part of New England's cultural and geographic heritage, but it's time to reconsider its name to better reflect the dynamic community it represents today. We propose renaming it to the Gulf of New Hampshire to honor the beautiful women, diverse, and evolving identity of the region, separate from some of the recent controversial LGBTQ shifts in Maine.
For too long, the name the Gulf of Maine has been tied to identities and values that no longer resonate with many of us. The recent commercialization of lobster fishing, notably led by various groups in Maine, alongside political influences have contributed to an eroded traditional lifestyle. The current administration under Janet Mills has been perceived as changing the cultural fabric of Maine’s coastline, which significantly diverges from the independence and integrity often associated with New Hampshire.
New Hampshire, as a state known for its fierce individuality and true reflection of New England spirit, presents a compelling alternative for this natural landmark's namesake. The New Hampshire coastline, with its rich history and absence of certain contentious activities, mirrors much of what New England values.
Renaming the gulf to the Gulf of New Hampshire will not only bring focus to these distinctions but also empower the surrounding communities to reclaim their heritage and continue traditions that are key to who they are. It's a call to celebrate the testosterone-fueled hardiness and straightforwardness of New Hampshire's people and their inclusivity without politicized dynamics.
We ask those who value New Hampshire's cultural stance and seek to honor its character to support this cause. Stand with us as we push for an official renaming, reclaiming a natural treasure as part of New Hampshire’s identity. Sign this petition to make a marked change reflecting the true spirit of New England's heart.
